Fabrication of a Steel Carriage Base for the Steel & Mining Industry

Steel Carriage Base

A customer in the steel and mining industry took advantage of our recognized manufacturing services, hiring us at American Precision Services to complete the custom fabrication of the carriage base highlighted here. Utilizing steel in beam, bar, and plate form, our advanced horizontal boring mill equipment was employed for manufacturing. Certified welding and precision milling processes including drilling, boring, and tapping were carried out to create the base as specified in the customer supplied 2D CAD drawings. The parts were stress relieved to combat instability and distortion, assembled as required, and painted with primer. The tightest tolerance met was ± 1/64”, with finished overall dimensions being 5′-8½” in length by 4′-¾” in width.

Quality and accuracy were ensured with thorough dimensional and visual inspections. Turnaround time for this project was 60 days, shipping the base to the customer in Chicago, IL.
